Detroit —January 30, 2026 — DENCAP Dental Plans announces with profound sadness the passing of Joseph Lentine Jr., Chairman of the Board and former President of DENCAP Dental Plans, who passed away on January 13.
Joseph Lentine Jr. was a selfless and visionary leader whose dedication to helping others shaped both his professional work and personal life. He led with integrity, generosity, and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on the organization, the dental industry, and the community he served.

After nearly 20 years with DENCAP, Lentine transitioned to the role of Chairman of the Board in September 2025, as previously shared in the company’s December newsletter. The transition allowed him to devote more time to his personal interests and volunteer efforts. At that time, his sister, Dawn Dorsch assumed the role of President after serving as Executive Vice President since 2015.
“While I will not have the additional guidance, love, and support I anticipated from my dear brother in this next chapter, I am profoundly grateful for all that he taught me,” said Dawn Dorsch, President of DENCAP Dental Plans. “Joe exemplified strong, thoughtful leadership, and I will carry those lessons forward as we continue to grow and serve.”
DENCAP’s founder, Joseph T. Lentine Sr., who continues to serve as an advisor, along with the company’s experienced leadership team, staff, and Board of Directors, remain fully engaged and committed to ensuring continuity, stability, and the ongoing strength of the organization.
The company is currently making arrangements to honor Joseph Lentine Jr.’s life and legacy. Additional details will be shared once plans are finalized.
While the DENCAP team mourns this loss, the organization remains fully operational and dedicated to serving its members and partners. For immediate assistance, individuals may contact Jennifer Christian-Byers, Operations Manager, at jchristian@dencap.com or 313-972-1400 ext. 102.
DENCAP Dental Plans extends its sincere appreciation for the continued trust and support of its members, partners, and community during this time.
