Well, that’s interesting! Did you know that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) tracks dental trends and statistics in the United States? One post notes that:
• Percent of children aged 5-19 years with untreated dental caries is 13.2%; the percent of adults aged 20-44 with untreated dental caries is 25.9%; the percent of adults aged 45-64 with untreated dental caries is 25.3%; and the percent of adults 65 and over with untreated dental caries is 20.2%
• Dental caries are commonly known as tooth decay, which is damage done to teeth as a result of bacteria that builds up on the tooth’s surface, producing acids that damage the tooth’s enamel.
• Percent of adults aged 18 and over with a dental exam or cleaning in the past year according to a 2022 study was 64.1%
• Percent of children aged 2-17 years with a dental visit in the past year (2019 study) was 86.9%
